Male', 16 July 2007; As part of the activities of "Think Tourism"
campaign, a Tourism Road Relay was held in Male’ on 14th July 2007.
Paradise Island Resort emerged as the winner among 14 teams that took
part in Tourism Road Relay 2007.

The tourist arrivals to the Maldives have increased by 14.9% with a
total of 304,058 tourists during the period January to May 2007. For
the same period in 2006 Maldives received 264,613 tourists.

Friday, 8th June 2007 – Maldivian Tourism Industry has achieved another
milestone by having four of ADAARAN Resorts becoming the first resorts
in the Maldives to achieve the prestigious ISO 22000/HACCP standard.

Cook will start their charter flights to Gan island in Addu Atoll in December
this year.

Maldives has become the most celebrated destination this year in the
Marine Dive Fair by winning the most number of awards in the Dive &
Travel Awards 2007. The Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation of
Maldives, Dr. Mahamood Shougee, leading the Maldives delegation
accepted awards for the destination. The fair, targeted to the world’s
dive enthusiasts, especially Japanese, consist of 10 categories where
Maldives won awards in the 8 categories.
