Maldives has become the most celebrated destination this year in the Marine Dive Fair by winning the most number of awards in the Dive & Travel Awards 2007. The Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation of Maldives, Dr. Mahamood Shougee, leading the Maldives delegation accepted awards for the destination. The fair, targeted to the world’s dive enthusiasts, especially Japanese, consist of 10 categories where Maldives won awards in the 8 categories.

Awards for the Maldives include three awards representing the Maldives as a destination and five awards won by 3 resorts a Safari Vessel in the Maldives. As a destination, the Maldives won “Best Beach Destination”, “Best Dreaming Area” and “Best Diving Area”. Olhuveli Beach & spa Resort won “World-class Best Beach Resort. Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa won Best Over Water Bungalow and Best / Hotel Resort. Clubmed Kani won the second Best Over Water Bungalow and Yacht Blue shark 2 Safari won the Second Best Live Aboard award.

Maldives achieved successful victory challenging 35 countries by a voting from the readers of Marine Dive Magazine.

Maldives also was the winner of the 'World's Leading Dive Destination' and  'Indian Ocean's Leading Destination' at the WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS 2006
